Rescued from deadly neglect
Aasritha, a 10-month-old baby, faces severe neglect and discrimination at home. Her parents, daily wage laborers, take her to work, leaving her to play unsupervised under the scorching sun. This puts her health and safety at great risk.
Her father, disappointed that she is a girl, drinks excessively and abuses both her and her mother. He views girls as a burden and neglects providing Aasritha with proper nutrition or care, leaving her weak and frequently ill.
During a field survey, social workers learned about Aasritha's situation. They counseled her father, explaining the value of gender equality and the legal consequences of his behavior. Though resistant, he reluctantly agreed to care for her. IGP social workers will continue to monitor the family to ensure Aasritha receives the care and protection she deserves.
