Lakshmi, faced discrimination at home because her parents believed boys were more important. Despite wanting to go to school, they stopped her education and considered marrying her off early. IGP’s social workers intervened after a concerned neighbor alerted them. Despite initial resistance, a village volunteer convinced the parents to change their minds by explaining the consequences of their actions. To ensure compliance, social workers asked the volunteer to check on the family periodically. The community came together to challenge old beliefs and promote equal opportunities for all children.
