After repeated crop failures, Deaarshi’s father ended his life, leaving her mother to provide for the family as a farm laborer. Overwhelmed by grief and poverty, her mother began beating and verbally abusing Deaarshi, blaming her for the family’s misfortune and calling her a curse for being a girl.
Deaarshi is forced to do household chores and is often locked out of the house all day with only a little food and water. Her mother believes educating a girl is useless and talks of marrying her off by the age of 12 or 13.
During a field visit, IGP social workers found Deaarshi playing by the roadside and learned of her neglect. They counseled her mother, who reluctantly agreed to send Deaarshi to school, though her attitude remains unchanged.
Through IGP sponsorship, Deaarshi will receive education, safety, and consistent care, giving her the chance to escape abuse, avoid early marriage, and build a hopeful future.
If you choose to sponsor Deaarshi, you will play a part in providing her with the opportunity to create a better life for herself. Under IGP’s care, Deaarshi will receive a strong education, the ability to have a better childhood, and consistent care for her needs. With your help, she will begin to know that she is loved and valued.
