My Story

After they were married, Charvitha’s parents desired to have a little boy so that he could be an heir to their family name. So when Charvitha was born a girl, she was severely neglected by her father for not being the boy he wanted. He would go as far as restricting her mother from taking proper care of her infant daughter to purposely keep her from getting what she needed to live. Although her mother wanted to care for Charvitha, she was unable to without the support of her husband.

A few months later, Charvitha’s mother became pregnant and then gave birth to a second child: a boy. Her father was overjoyed and began to spend all of his resources to support his son, at the expense of his daughter. Charvitha’s mother looked for help from her neighbors for her daughter and was put into contact with our social workers. When we learned about Charvitha’s situation. We were able to confront her father and, ultimately, intervene on her behalf. Your sponsorship ensures Charvitha is receiving proper care and nutrition to support her overall development as well as a safe environment to grow. More than that, she will learn she is loved and valued as a girl!
