My Story

Born into a family that only wanted sons, Hema Varshini has faced many obstacles. Her father was disappointed when he was given a daughter and not a second son. He immediately favored his firstborn and showed his disappointment in Hema Varshini through physical abuse, harsh neglect, and constant comparison to her brother.

Hema Varshini was sent to work on farms to earn income to support her brother’s education instead of investing in her own. Hema Varshini’s father believed that there is no reason to educate a young girl and would prefer to have her married in order to rid himself of the burden of caring for her. 

Your sponsorship allows Hema Varshini to go to school and live in a safe home where she is protected from deadly neglect, physical abuse, verbal abuse, child labor, and illegal child marriage. She is safe, has access to nutritious food and education, and most importantly, she is being told truth: she is loved, she is valuable, she is worthy!
