My Story

Pujitha’s father suffered from addiction and was unable to care for his family well. Because of this, her mother tried desperately to provide for their family but was unable to sufficiently without the support of her husband. Without the proper help, Pujitha’s mother had to take Pujitha out of school to send her to work on farms to earn more income for their family. Pujitha, even as a young girl, did hard, manual labor all day instead of being educated. After learning about Pujitha’s situation, a concerned relative reached out to our social workers to help her. Our social workers were able to meet with her family and successfully intervene on Pujitha’s behalf.

Your sponsorship ensures Pujitha is enrolled in school rather than being a child laborer. It also provides her with ongoing support and counseling from our social workers who are teaching her the value of being a girl!
