Playing with her brother and sister
Rithvika's mother, Ambika, was being pressured to abort her child at 6 months pregnant because they suspected she was carrying a girl. Ambika did not want to abort her baby, however, when Rithvika was born her father and grandmother did not visit Ambika. She was weak after having lost a lot of blood and went to her mother's house to rest.
Our social workers spoke with Ambika's husband and mother in law about Ambika's health and counseled them on the importance of girls. The social workers also warned them to not mistreat Ambika as they would file a report with the police. Ambika and Reethvika moved back home.
Your sponsorship ensures Rithvika is receiving proper food and nutrition for her overall development as well as ongoing counseling support from IGP’s social workers who are providing her with a safe environment to grow. More than that she will learn that she is loved and valued as a girl.
